Gx Sweat Patch provides hydration biomarker analytics and recovery insights
Sweat the Details.
Epicore Biosystems, in partnership with PepsiCo and Gatorade, has developed a first-of-its-kind personalized performance tracking sweat patch - the Gx Sweat Patch. The Gx Sweat Patch is a skin-like, wearable patch that pairs with an easy-to-use software app to provide real time and personalized recommendations for athletes to optimally hydrate and refuel after exercise.

Epicore brings expertise in microfluidic and wearable solutions to this novel, commercial wearable. Two microchannels capture sweat throughout exercise and provide colorimetric feedback on sweat rate and sodium composition in real time.

To enable real-time performance insights and individualized recommendations, Epicore has developed algorithms as part of a software application in partnership with Gatorade. The Gatorade Gx iOS app is available now on the App Store, empowering athletes to track their workouts and view their real time sweat profiles and nutritional recommendations. These algorithms and recommendations build on extensive research including a large scale (n=312 athletes) study tracking athletic performance and sweat. The Science.
Epicore technology stems from decades of research and development from Prof. John Rogers' Laboratory at Northwestern University's Querrey Simpson Institute for Bioelectronics. With 20+ publications in top-tier journals, including a landmark study of 312 athletes, Epicore's wearable metabolic and biochemical sensing technology has been established across performance, wellness, and healthcare applications.
